Durability / Transcending / Renowned
Origin: California, USA
No matter the spelling, you know about the brand
What started out in Australia, where Brian Smith and Doug Jensen used their newfound love of implementing sheepskin for the creation of footwear, has now become a global household name for many. Sheepskin have been around in Australia’s craftsmanship, where shepherds used leather straps to lash sheepskin around their feet and ankles- which eventually were developed into boots.
Founded in 1978 in Southern California, the two Australians surfers decided to feed off of the momentum of selling sheepskin-crafted boots and build a distinct brand around it. Though the company had only sold 28 pairs in their first season, they managed to gain a lot of international recognition in 1994 when the U.S. Team of the winter Olympics were seen wearing them.
