Ganni is a Danish contemporary ready-to-wear brand founded by gallerist Frans Truelsen in 2000, and later taken over by husband-and-wife duo Nicolaj and Ditte Reffstrup in late 2010s. What started out as an antidote to the perception that everyone in Scandinavia was either androgynous or bohemian- neither of which Ditte could identify with- turned into a label that seemed relatable to herself and her friends. With an unfailing talent for nailing colorful, fun, just-sophisticated-enough pieces the brand have steadily cemented their place in the fashion world.

For me, the Ganni girl is a state of mind. She is a girl who is confident in her own skin and is relaxed about fashion

With all the exposure the brand has gained over the years the label puts emphasis on sticking true to themselves. The feeling of authenticity appears not just to be at the heart of the way the duo decided to run the business, but also central to house Ditte designs the collections. It is never about trying to tick off trends- it’s about what will last.
